The Head of Procurement will be part of the Senior Management Team at this Mid-sized Medical Device Distribution business (40) in County Kerry.
We are looking for someone to Head up the Procurement and Purchasing Team (3).
You will need to have a background in Purchasing / Procurement (5 Years Plus) and have managed direct reports (Team).

Role:
Develop strategies and tactics to support Strategic Procurement goals and objectives through interactions with the suppliers, technical services, finance and sales & operations. Lead supplier integration and development efforts for new or existing suppliers. Collaborate with suppliers utilizing expert negotiation skills in support of total cost reduction initiatives. You will approach your work with a Customer First attitude, with the customer needs driving decision making.
Duties:
Head of Procurement:
- Providing strategic input into the direction of the business
- Identify and build new relationships with suppliers
- Negotiate with current Strategic suppliers
- Oversight on Stock Management, cost and stock holding
- Accountable for keeping our customer offering up to date with latest technologies
Inventory Management:
- Inventory Trending/Min-Max levels/Safety Stock/Expiry reports/Bulk
- Stock management overview
- Supplier returns, open POs, logistic queries
- Pricing Policy management
Supplier Relations:
- Owning supplier relationships, co-ordinating supplier meetings and building on current relationships
- Forecasting: Sales forecasting
- Data and business analysis
- Supplier reporting deadlines
- Maintain supplier pricing
- Source inventory in line with Industry Compliance Regulations.
Problem Solving:
- Continuous Improvement project participation
- Requirement to provide comprehensive solutions to procurement requests
- Offer assistance during ISO audit
- Reviewing existing work processes and implementing smarter ways of working where necessary
- Take an active part in Company initiatives
- Working to month end deadlines & daily KPI’s & Playbooks
Total Cost Optimization: Analyse market trends from various sources to forecast market supply and price conditions. Collaborate with suppliers to identify and implement initiatives reducing total delivered costs.
Contractual Agreements: Develop and negotiate contractual agreements to provide price protection and supply security with advice from legal, business, and technical functions. Execute requirements per terms of the agreements
Mentor and Coach Team: To further develop and refine skills regarding sourcing strategies, relationship management, supplier development, tactics, and negotiations
Experience:
- Third level Degree
- 5-8 Years’ experience in a similar role (Supply Chain / Purchasing / Sourcing / Procurement)
- Team Management Experience
- Proficiency in SAP desired
- Certified Purchasing Manager and/or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) desired
