My client is a Multinational Medical Device Manufacturer with R&D and Manufacturing Operations in Ireland and across the Globe.

They currently have an opening for a Project Lead in the Manufacturing Operations of the business.

This role will focus on New Equipment Introduction in this highly automated Manufacturing environment.

As such you will need to come from Regulated Manufacturing (Min. 7 Years), preferably the Medical Device Industry, and have a track record of rolling out and managing large projects across Automated Manufacturing.

Role:

 

You will lead and coordinate the project engineering activities associated with the further development of new and existing manufacturing capacity. The position will utilize learnings from existing manufacturing technologies to aid in the development of new technologies with the overall objective of developing & implementing projects on time, on budget and to the necessary Quality and Regulatory standards.

 

The role will include leading project engineers and providing project guidance. Further, it will include oversight of overall project execution, including liaising with cross site internal stakeholders and external vendors to achieve desired outcome.

 

Stakeholders: Global Engineering (GE), Manufacturing Operations, New Product Development (NPD), Research and Development (R&D), Quality Assurance (QA), Design Assurance (DA) & Supply Chain (SCM).

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• New Process Implementation: Position responsible for timely implementation of new manufacturing processes in the designated Value Stream area. Projects will include Capacity, New Products, and Cost Reduction, and will involve highly automated production equipment. Position will provide leadership of cross functional team to deliver on same objectives. Project Management: Position will be responsible for developing & tracking project plans and ensuring use of stage gate or other suitable process to create, support and manage development of project goals, schedules and tasks. Also, position will be responsible for maintaining project budgetary control
• New Process Concept Development: Position will be responsible for overseeing development of concept for fully automated manufacturing systems, working with a technology partner, driving proof of principle by prototyping key bottleneck areas, and developing a high-level concept that meets customer requirements. New Product introduction: support timely introduction on any new products or product upgrades in the designated Value Stream area; including development of product costs
• Process Improvements: Position will be responsible for identifying and implementing process & product improvements in the area
• Collaboration: Participate with Core and Extended Teams in development, execution and monitoring of project plans and evaluation of product/ process concepts. Design Transfer Management: Conduct and document Design Transfer and Change Control implementation to move projects from the design to manufacturing phase
• Process Qualification: support qualification of new products / processes and ensure compliance to quality standards through execution of protocols
• Safety/ Risk Assessments: position will be responsible for ensuring safety compliance in the area, and supporting both conduction and timely closeout of risk assessments
• Communication: Socialize project status identifying key project milestones, progress and major interdependencies with Stakeholders on a regular basis. Present updates to senior leadership using clearly understood metrics to report progress management

 

Experience:

 

• Third Level Qualification (Science or Engineering Discipline)
• 7 Plus Years Previous Experience in Regulated Manufacturing (Preferably Medical Device)
• Extensive experience in New Equipment Introduction in a Highly Automated Manufacturing Environment
• Previous Leadership and Project Management experience essential
