Not for the first time in my many years in Recruitment has a candidate pulled out of a Client Interview Just over an Hour before their meeting.
And when the person in question emails or in this case Texts me, I always know that it is just going to be one of those days.
Last minute cancellation is not unique to Sales Recruitment, anyone who works in Sales will be very familiar with this old chest nut.
You have to ask your-self, what could I have done better?
There is a number of reasons that someone backs out of a meeting –
1) They feel over-whelmed, they just don’t think they have what it takes
2) They feel under-whelmed, they think they can do a lot better
3) The Dog has eaten their homework, yes I have heard excuses at this level in the past
In regards points 1 & 2, as a Recruiter I need to take responsibility for this. It is my job to fully brief all parties concerned and at all times ask that key question. Do you have any concerns? Qualify and re-qualify your leads, appointments and meetings.
Point 3, well there is always going to be a number of time wasters in this world, and as I have always said to my clients, it was better we found out know than 3 months into this person starting with the company.
