A recent conversation with a candidate who contacted me summed up the dilemma of our age. We have never been wealthier, unemployment is heading towards a record low, and levels of depression and anxiety are at record highs.
While correlation is not always causation, are we working ourselves to death?
An on-going conversation I have with my clients is if you want to hire the best, you need to offer the best conditions of employment; and money is no longer the primary motive for a large sway of candidates I represent.
It would be fair to say that the majority of candidates who are interested in flexi-hours and options for Admin-Days at home are women. With the majority of child care still undertaken by the female population; companies need to react to this changing environment.
